How do humans, animals and technical systems move efficiently through their environment? The module package Locomotion on Land and in Fluids focuses on the experimental and data-based analysis of movement. Students learn to precisely record movement sequences, describe them physically and interpret them biomechanically – both on solid ground and in air and water.
The focus is on practical work with modern measurement and analysis technology: from video and force measurement systems to the digitisation of complex movement data and the visualisation of flows in wind and water tunnels. The data obtained is evaluated using the latest software and translated into functional contexts.
A particular focus is placed on the development and testing of bio-inspired models. In this way, technical concepts for robotics, medical technology and bionic drive systems are created from natural models – from the initial design to the prototype.
